Geddie and McMenamin take Porsche Carrera Cup GB titles (5-10-09)

Glynn Geddie and Glenn McMenamin both clinched titles in 2009 Porsche Carrera Cup GB during the final two races of the season at Brands Hatch (3/4 October).

Geddie won the pro-am1 title after a superb weekend at Brands when he took an overall podium finish ahead of Tim Harvey and Michael Caine. The 19-year old from Aberdeen was in his first full season of racing and won the pro-am1 category in 10 of the 20 races with Team Parker Racing.

"We've had so many ups ands downs this season and we've had some bad luck in the races," said Geddie. "After nearly stalling on the line for the final race I had to work hard, but we did what we needed to do. Next year I plan to be back in the Carrera Cup and move up to the pro category."

Geddie and McMenamin take titles

McMenamin wrapped up his first season of racing by winning the pro-am2 category. The Milton Keynes racer only joined the series at Donington in May after getting his National A race licence and has been a pro-am2 front-runner ever since with Parr Motorsport.

"My first ever race was this weekend a year ago in the Porsche Open and I was just happy to be out there on the grid," said McMenamin. "A year on, I've won my class in a major championship. I can’t really get my head round what I've achieved. It hasn’t sunk in yet."

He won the pro-am2 category four times and saw off the challenge of Paul Hogarth to take the title. McMenamin is already working towards continuing in the series in 2010. "I'm very much hoping to be back in the Carrera Cup next year. There's nowhere else I really want to be racing," he said.
